Located in Ireland's sunny southeast, County Carlow boasts green countryside, rolling mountains and open pasture land. As the second smallest of Ireland's counties, Carlow is named after the main town that lies on the Barrow River. A county rich in water, the Carlow Regatta, which takes place each summer, is one of the country's oldest rowing festivals.
The town of Carlow also has one of Ireland's favorite microbreweries, Carlow Brewing Company, which brews a variety of Ohara's brand beer on site.
For golf, Carlow Golf Club, which opened in 1899, features both an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole course set on a former deer park. Just outside the town of Carlow, Killerig Golf Club features a scenic parkland setting with views of the Wicklow Mountains and Killenshin Hills. For new golf, the Christy O'Conner Jr.-designed Mount Wolseley Golf & Country Club presents a championship-worthy challenge in Tullow.
