Known as the "Garden of Ireland," County Wicklow has an unbelievable landscape of rolling hills and mountains, rivers, lakes, and long stretches of sandy beach. The county is situated less than an hour from Dublin city center. The town of Bray, the longest established seaside town in Ireland, is the county's hub of artistic activity and creation. It is known for its extensive art, theater, and dance programs as well as for its annual music festivals. Due to its exquisite scenery, Bray is also a popular filming locale for movies.
Throughout the entire county, there is a diverse golf scene offering everything from parkland to classic links, championship layouts to nine-hole par 3s. Wicklow boasts over 20 different golf courses. Druids Glen Golf Club is the most well known of the county's offerings. Opened in 1995, it is one of Ireland's relatively newer courses but it is considered a modern classic. Many professionals who have played the course even coined the nickname the "Augusta of Europe" for it. The wooded parkland course is definitely a must-play for its challenging tree-lined holes and liberally distributed water hazards.
