Set in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, and just 24 miles north of Cardiff, Morlais Castle Golf Club is in an idyllic location. Morlais Castle was built in 1270 and the remains of this historic building are a prominent feature of the 18-hole course. The club is home to many facilities, including a putting green, warm-up bunker, practice field as well as indoor practice nets for when the elements prove too much.
The course at Morlais Castle is extremely unique in its design. The opening 9-holes are built into an old quarry, whereas the back nine pose a different challenge as they are a lot more exposed and set on rolling moorland. Due to this phenomenal design you will have to be able to adapt your game to the changing environment to make a good score, and you will find yourself having to play every shot in the book at some point in your round. There are numerous features to look out for on your way around, none more so than the remains of Morlais Castle on the right-hand side of the third fairway along with outstanding views of the Brecon Beacons throughout.
